
Event Overview
The Truth and Transformation Dialogue was held in recognition of the 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence. The event centered on amplifying the voices of Black survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), fostering healing, and advocating for systemic change. The program provided a safe and inclusive space for survivors to share their experiences, engage in meaningful discussions, and contribute to shaping the next steps in advocacy and support for survivors.
Event Objectives
Amplify Voices: Highlight the stories and experiences of Black women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals who are survivors of GBV.
Healing and Empowerment: Facilitate healing through guided artistic expressions and interactive discussions.
Advocacy: Develop actionable insights for addressing anti-Black racism and misogynoir in community support systems.
Community Building: Foster connections among survivors, service providers, and advocates.

In recognition of the 16 days of activism to end gender-based violence, This dialogue will centre the voices and needs of Black survivors of gender-based violence. Through open and meaningful discussion, we aim to better understand the specific challenges Black survivors face and collectively shape the next steps for advocacy and community support.

About The Amourgynoir Code
Our goal is to explore the lived experiences of Black women, girls, gender diverse and trans folks who identify as: i. survivors of gender-based violence and/or, ii. advocates who disrupt anti-Black racism and gender-based violence. Our findings will inform government policy and practice in the area of gender-based violence and support the development of more effective responses that are grounded in loving kindness and uplift Black women, girls, gender diverse and trans folks who are survivors of gender-based violence

UPlift Black is a Black & 2SLGBTQI+ led not for profit centre for Social Justice and Inclusion based in Simcoe County, Ontario and working with community partners to UPlift the wellbeing of BlPOC, 2SLGBTQI+ people locally and educate nationally on combating anti-Black racism and discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation in Canada.UPlift Black creates a social impact that is culturally based and anchored in 2SLGBTQI+ inclusivity and in solidarity with Indigenous peoples.
