Afro Fusion Community Fashion Show Celebrates Diversity and Unity Proceeds to support coalition of Simcoe County Black-led grassroots organizations

(Barrie, ON)—A fundraiser for the newly formed “Simcoe County Black Coalition”, the “Afro Fusion Community Fashion Show” happens Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Hosted by UPlift Black Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion, the event redefines style through the fusion of traditional craftsmanship and futuristic designs. Showcasing the talent of both award winning and emerging designers, the inaugural Afro Fusion Community Fashion Show runs from 1 - 4 p.m. at Five Points Theatre, located at 1 Dunlop Street East, Barrie. “Our goal is to raise over $25,000 to support the Simcoe County Black Coalition through a night filled with fashion, entertainment, silent auctions, and a wonderful spirit of community engagement,” says Shelly-Ann Skinner, President and Founder of UPlift Black. “Formed by ten local Black-led organizations from right here in our region, this vibrant Simcoe County Black Coalition is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging and pride, while actively working to dismantle barriers and promote social justice.”
The Afro Fusion Community Fashion Show, a realm where culture intertwines with creativity, where every stitch tells a story, and every silhouette whispers secrets of the past, journeys through timelines of fashion. Coming alive with vibrant colours and intricate patterns, the stage will feature the Black excellence of Afro-Canadian artists and designers including: KYLE GERVACY @kylegervarcy; DISÉIYE @desirediseiye; QWEENFECY CLOTHING @qweenfecyclothing; KLXTN Studio @KLXTN_; and, ASHANTE BLACKWOOD (Artisticlifestyle6) @_artisticlifestyle6. The event will be co-hosted by musical artists and performers Bianca Bridge @iambiancabridge and EMMM @emmm__official .
An after party will follow from 4:30 - 8 p.m. at LVX Beauty, located at 16 Dunlop Street East Barrie, ON. Access to the after party is included with either a General Gold Ticket , VIP Ticket, or Sponsorship Package Ticket.
